Lecture on the Srebrenica Genocide at Lycée Michel Rodange

On Monday, March 16, 2026, the “Srebrenica Luxembourg Committee” held a lecture on the Srebrenica genocide at Lycée Michel Rodange in Luxembourg.

Around 300 students attended this educational event, which was organized as part of a broader campaign conducted by the Committee in secondary schools across Luxembourg, with the aim of educating young people about the facts surrounding the genocide and the importance of preserving a culture of remembrance.

The guest lecturer was Mustafa Dedović, a PhD candidate at the Department of History of the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Sarajevo. He spoke about the historical context, course, and consequences of the genocide committed against Bosniaks in July 1995, as well as the importance of studying and understanding it.

Representatives of the Committee were warmly welcomed by the school director, who expressed gratitude and support for such educational activities for young people. Given the importance of this topic for understanding contemporary European history and the values of human rights, representatives of the school and teaching staff emphasized in discussions with Committee representatives that they would advocate to the relevant institutions for the inclusion of the Srebrenica genocide in school textbooks and educational curricula.

At the end of the lecture, the Srebrenica Luxembourg Committee donated two copies of the book Witness to Genocide by journalist Roy Gutman to the school library, as an additional resource for students and teachers.

This activity at Lycée Michel Rodange is part of an ongoing educational youth outreach program. Over the past month, lectures were also held at Lycée de Grevenmacher and Lycée Nic Biever, making this the fourth lecture delivered in secondary schools in Luxembourg since the beginning of the year.

So far, more than 600 students have been reached through these activities.
