About Us
The Srebrenica Genocide Committee – Luxembourg serves as a coordinating platform of organisations and individuals from the Bosnia and Herzegovina diaspora, established with the aim of ensuring a dignified and responsible commemoration of 11 July – the Day of Remembrance for the victims of the 1995 genocide in Srebrenica.
The Committee’s work is grounded in the universal principles of human rights, international humanitarian law and respect for the facts established by international courts. In line with resolutions of the United Nations, the European Parliament and other relevant international institutions that have formally recognised and condemned the genocide in Srebrenica, the Committee is dedicated to preserving the culture of remembrance, affirming truth and promoting the values of peace, tolerance and mutual respect.
By fostering a culture of remembrance grounded in truth, responsibility and dignity, the Srebrenica Genocide Committee – Luxembourg contributes to:

Mission Statement
The mission of the Srebrenica Genocide Committee – Luxembourg is to contribute, through institutional cooperation and public engagement, to the lasting and dignified commemoration of the Srebrenica genocide in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Particular emphasis is placed on educational initiatives, public awareness and the meaningful involvement of younger generations in fostering a responsible and enduring culture of remembrance.
Through cooperation with national and local institutions in Luxembourg, civil society organisations, educational and religious communities, as well as diplomatic representations, the Committee seeks to ensure institutional visibility and sustained support for commemorative and educational initiatives.
Main Activities
As part of its work, the Committee organises the central annual commemoration on 11 July, along with a range of accompanying programmes including public discussions, panel events, exhibitions, cultural initiatives and educational activities. These efforts aim to honour the memory of the victims, strengthen awareness of the importance of genocide prevention and promote the universal values of human dignity and responsibility.
The Committee operates in a spirit of openness, institutional integrity and social responsibility, while fully respecting the legal and societal framework of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
